How big are classes? Classes have a minimum of 6 but a maximum of 12 children. Any number of adults are welcome to attend class. Are they mixed aged classes? Yes, Interactions are parent- child. Your child will learn to appreciate music by watching and listening to their adults. Our goal is to create an environment of family music making which includes siblings. A child's musical development does not strictly coincide with his/her age. The Music Together curriculum offers many levels of instruction simultaneously. Is my child expected to sit and sing the entire class? Children are allowed to move freely during class. We ask that parents supervise their child's activity so that accidents do not occur. Some children learn by doing others will learn by observation. Many parents will see their children reacting to what goes on in class later at home. I am not musical. Can I really help my child develop Musical Intelligence? Yes! A parent is the child's most important teacher. Research has shown that children learn their disposition toward music from their primary caregivers. A parent who has difficulty singing in tune can still teach their children that music is fun and important by modeling enthusiastic participation. Experiencing music in the class, at live concerts, and on recordings will teach the child to discern accurate pitch and rhythm. So, relax and have fun and enjoy making music with your children. Do Infants really benefit? Yes, Infants' participation will seem passive at first, but they are actively absorbing what they are seeing, hearing, and feeling. As their bodies and nervous systems mature, the infants often show more complex musical responses and evidence of song recognition. Parents will learn in class how to enhance their child's music development and how to create or enhance the musical bond. Your child loves to hear you sing to them. They prefer the voice of their parents. Classes will give you an opportunity to bond and sing while also providing an opportunity to meet other parents.
